Mixed Green Salad
Urth Caffé Salads - Some of the Freshest You Can Find
Let's talk a little about Urth's Salads. And specifically, the fresh-picked greens and produce used to create these delicious, satisfying, and healthy options.
I am writing this from Urth Caffé, Beverly Hills and I am nibbling on the delicious and satisfying Urth Farmer Salad—just picked baby spinach leaves, organic and sourced locally. Dressed lightly in a peppercorn dressing that does not wilt the leaves, but laces them lightly. Tangy—yet not overpowering. The sweet richness of the maple glazed pecans balanced by the salty bite of Parmesan. Thinly-sliced crescent moons of fennel—the herbaceous crunch bright and refreshing. A fresh and fragrant cherry tomato—that pops in your mouth when bitten. Crunchy thinly sliced red onions. The bite of a paper-thin farm fresh radish, recently plucked from the earth.

A melding of flavors that come together seamlessly, evoking a bright and warm summer day. The baby spinach tender and melting.
The interior of the café is bustling, but not full. The friendly and helpful managers and staff always available to assist with any needs or concerns. Outside, on the expansive enclosed patio, the traffic hums slowly by. The occasional honk of a horn buffeted by the green trees and shrubs that surround it. Spanish music plays on the overhead. The coffee is tamped and ground in the background. A warm, convivial atmosphere.
All of Urth's produce is organic whenever possible and much of the greens such as lettuces, spinach, and micro-greens are locally sourced from Kenter Canyon Farms in Ventura County. This tender, delicious and vibrant produce is picked daily and delivered to Urth Caffé direct from the farm. Urth Caffe's quality and purity rivals that of some of the top restaurants in Los Angeles—at a much lower price point in comparison. There is a delicious and wide variety of salads to choose from—such as the famous Urth Salad made with locally grown mixed greens, feta cheese, sugar plum tomatoes, hearts of palm, garbanzos, Kalamata olives and pine nuts—drizzled with a tangy, refreshing vinaigrette. The greens young and tender and singing of the sun.

Or for something a bit more hearty and reminiscent of Italy—the Heirloom Tomato & Burrata Salad. Fresh, creamy burrata cheese, heirloom tomatoes and wild arugula gently tossed in Urth's famous vinaigrette, then garnished with fragrant basil oil and a balsamic reduction. Or the delicious and nutritious Caravan Kale Salad—organic Tuscan Kale, organic red quinoa, the freshest Persian cucumbers, heirloom tomatoes, roasted yams, red onion, crispy pita chips and fresh mint tossed in a pomegranate vinaigrette, then topped with the creamiest ricotta salata cheese. Healthy and satisfying.

Another favorite is the Urth Chicken Curry Salad—farm-fresh mixed greens and plump cherry tomatoes drizzled with a tangy vinaigrette, laced with herbs and a floral e.v.o.o. The greens bright and vibrant and evoking memories of nutrient-dense soil drenched in sunshine. Cherry tomatoes plump and firm and bursting with flavor. The chicken curry an exquisite melding of all-natural chicken breast, curry sauce, mayo, plump, sweet juicy white raisons, onions and celery.

All of Urth's salads are served with a side of fresh-baked bread—prepared using the finest heirloom (non-GMO) grains, baked each morning in imported Italian stone-deck ovens and delivered fresh each day!
And did you know that lettuce, spinach, kale, and other greens are packed with vitamins and nutrients? Micro-greens (which Urth uses in many of its dishes and are also sourced from Kenter Canyon Farms) are concentrated little packets of nutrients—containing a much higher level of nutritional value than their mature counterparts.

And lettuce is a great source of antioxidants and Vitamin A (beta carotene)—which helps keep bones and eyes healthy. Spinach and kale are both packed with Vitamin K; and spinach (often called a "superfood") is rich in iron, vitamins C and E, potassium, magnesium, and folate.
Urth Caffé takes great pride in bringing its delicious, nutritious, satisfying salads straight from the farm to your plate. And is honored to be able to source from the best local farms to bring you not only the freshest, most nutrient-packed, local produce available. But to do so in a mindful way that respects the planet, the farms, the farmers, and the natural rhythms and cycles of nature.
